Associate Professor – Multimedia and Graphic Arts
Andreas Lanitis is currently an Associate Professor, in the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts, Cyprus University of Technology and coordinator of the Visual Media Computing Lab. Andreas received the degree of B.Eng in Electronic Engineering (1991) and PhD in Image Processing and Computer Vision (1995), both from the University of Manchester, UK. Subsequently he carried out research in the Division of Imaging Science and Biomedical Engineering, University of Manchester. Between 1997 and 2007 he worked at the School of Sciences and Engineering, Cyprus College. His research interests are focused on applications involving 2D and 3D face image interpretation, coding, restoration and synthesis, automatic age progression, 3D visualization and animation, biometrics and cultural heritage related applications of computer vision and virtual reality. He has published more than 120 papers in scientific journals, edited books and conference proceedings. According to Google Scholar, papers authored or co-authored by Dr. Lanitis received more than 4000 citations. Dr. Lanitis was the principal investigator or partner in 20 externally funded research projects funded by National or European agencies. Dr. Lanitis currently serves on the Editorial Board of IET Biometrics
